  New Licensing - How to Apply?

  We recently upgraded our GFI MailEssentials v14 to the new GFI MailEssentials v2012. After using the new 2012 product a couple of weeks we decided to purchase an upgrade key to include the MailSecurity features which were currently running on a 30-day evaluation period.   We recently upgraded our GFI MailEssentials v14 to the new GFI MailEssentials v2012. After using the new 2012 product a couple of weeks we decided to purchase an upgrade key to include the MailSecurity features which were currently running on a 30-day evaluation period. The new upgrade key was purchased and I could not locate the utility to find out HOW to apply the upgrade key that I had received by email. Now, I discovered that the process to apply the new upgrade key was quite simple. BUT, if the email that was sent me had included the instruction on HOW to apply the new key that would have been most helpful. Something like this: (1) open GFI MailEssntials dashboard; (2) In navigation pane click 'General Settings'; (3) select Licensing; copy/paste new license key into licensing field; (5) click Apply.

  MailSecurity delete reason

  When a message is deleted by GFI MailSecurity , we need to know the reason of deletion from the dashboard's log view .

  This can be done via adding extra column of data or clickable link for more information ( preferred )

  Fix for Spam Filter Settings screen

  In a future incarnation of Vipre please allow the entries in the 'Filter Settings Screen' for Email to be sorted.

  In addition, when you click 'Add' the cursor should already be in the textbox. You shouldn't have to click in the box before you can start entering data.

  BCC Emails

  I suggest if it would be possible to monitor BCC emails sent to user and quarantine them based on some rules .

  content type identification like TRiD

  a program named TRiD (from "http://mark0.net/soft-trid-e.html") knows about 5.000 types of file contents. Why is there no expandable database within GFImailsecurity ?

  Hold SPAM in Vipre database option

  My feature request is associated with the GFI Vipre Email Security product. By default quarantined emails are sent to the users quarantine folder wih the option to direct them to a specific email box. I would prefer that SPAM emails be held by Vipre in the same database that holds those emails that are found to have attachments with viruses and or malware. In my case management doesn't want users to manage SPAM emails ...more »

  My feature request is associated with the GFI Vipre Email Security product. By default quarantined emails are sent to the users quarantine folder wih the option to direct them to a specific email box. I would prefer that SPAM emails be held by Vipre in the same database that holds those emails that are found to have attachments with viruses and or malware.   MSEC centralization

  We have MSEC installed in different locations. When we release one email it gets quarantined again by another server. That is because one server doesnt know that the other server exists.

  Central Management Console

  We recently installed GFI on all 3 nodes of our Exchange DAG Cluster, and we would really like a way to manage all 3 nodes from a central console instead of having to manage them each individually. For example, if we need to add a domain to a whitelist, we have to do it manually on all 3 nodes. It would also be nice if the updates could be downloaded to a central 'store' and distributed to all the nodes internally instead ...more »

We spoke with tech support about this, and they said this is not currently possible - but suggested that we request it as a feature enhancement here.   Whitelist for files in Attachment filtering

  It would be nice to have the ability to whitelist certain files in the Attachment Filter, as opposed to just blocking them. This will help when files within Office 2007/2010 are quarantined even though the compressed archive itself should not be.

  Mail Security Whitelist

  I suggest you...add a whitelist for Mail Security. I am having an issue in the Mail Exploit List where "an e-mail from a subscription list called Vocus e-mails are gettting caught in the "Outlook 2002 mailto exploit MS04-009 (suspicious)" exploit list and there is no way of whitelisting this vendor without disabling this exploit and this is not what I want to do. Please fix this issue.

  Mail Security test email messages

  I have a feature request for Max Mail Security. It would be useful to be able to send a test message from the control panel to a mailbox. This would reassure me that the mail server and SPF setting are going to work before I commit to update the MX records. A bit like printing a test page fro a printer

  Email Exploit Engine Whitelist

  Provide a white list for the Email Exploit Engine just like you do with the HTML Sanitizer. I have had to disable a couple of the rules to allow legitimate emails from a particular domain to come in. With those rules disabled, I have obviously opened up a potential security risk from other domains.

GFI MailSecurity automatically quarantines these files on the basis that they are encrypted/password protected and hence the software can not determine if the contents are harmful or not. It would be really useful if we could maintain a whitelist of email addresses against particular rules (in this case, "Decompression : Password Protected Archive found"). This would allow us to whitelist senders who are regularly sending over legitimate encrypted archives.

  Linkscanner adaptations

  We had the following issue recently: one of my users subscribed to a mailing list. He received a confirmation, e.g. "Thank you for subscribing. If you wish to unsubscribe, please click HERE". Link scanner "clicks" on that link... So my users recieves a confirmation, e.g. "Sorry to see you leave. If you change your mind, please click HERE". Link scanner "clicks" on that link.   We had the following issue recently:

  Link scanner "clicks" on that link. For the sake or argument, let's assume the subscription goes automatically (we had it in a different situation, but same systematic).

  The mailinglist sends a confirmation, e.g.

  "Thank you for subscribing. If you wish to unsubscribe, please click HERE".

  Link scanner "clicks" on that link... So my users recieves a confirmation, e.g.

  "Sorry to see you leave. If you change your mind, please click HERE".

  Link scanner "clicks" on that link. The mailinglist sends a confirmation, e.g.

  "Thank you for subscribing. If you wish to unsubscribe, please click HERE".

  etc etc

  So before you know it, your mailserver is being flooded....

  What I would suggest:

  - if a link is scanned and found clean, the linkscanner should not rescan it during 5 minutes. That way, the loop described would only happen once or twice

  - create a whitelist for the linkscanner... even thought that might be tricky.

  I use the MailSecurity software since McAfee didn't provide any updates anymore for WebShield SMTP.

  The software runs on a server in my DMZ which acts as a relay server between the Exchange on my LAN and the outside world.

  In MSEC you have the option of scanning the store on demand. This is done at the moment this option is enabled, but I can imaging I want to schedue this for ie sunday 3.00 am to sunday 11.59 am. Is it really difficult to make this option schulable, let's say monthly, weekly, daily, then set a day and then set a time from and untill, and make this 'incremental'? I don't know if the last option is possible since VSAPI doesn't ...more »
