Support for StorageCraft ShadowProtect Backup

The ability for GFI Max to monitor and report on StorageCraft's ShadowProtect Backup product as part of it's Backup Checks.

We are currently doing this through EventLog Monitoring - but would like to see it included as a supported backup product.

It would be good within the Backup Check for the DSC that an option is added to only count full backups for Shadow Protect.

Currently it counts incrementals also and it would be good to skip these

      Hi,

There has been very little interest in this idea based on votes received, so while it will be retained on record it will now be closed.

The previous versions of ShadowProtect are supported however, support for Version 4.1 of ShadowProtect Backup from StorageCraft is needed. Currently we are needing to make changes to the registry in order to make the check somewhat useful. More complete support for monitoring of the software would be very helpful and is key for us.

GFIMax says ShadowProtect is supported, and yet the check returns product not found. i have a work-around now with Event log checks but a proper check would be nice

    1. Enable support for version 4.1.5.10125 of shadow protect from storagecraft.

Even though it is on the list of supported products it does not specify version numbers and the check reports "product not found" which according to technical support means that it isn't supported.

If version numbers were detailed in the list of supported products this may have saved some time.

  5. Thanks to http://cscmblog.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html I found the answer as to why this can fail. Simple regedit will fix the problem.

GFI Remote Management - Storage Craft Shadow Protect not detected by Backup Check

When using GFI Remote Management and Shadow Craft Shadow Protect on a x64 version of Windows you will find that the backup check will fail with the error "Product Not Found". This is because the backup check looks for the registry keys below, in Windows x64 the Wow6432Node registry key is used to contain the software registry keys and so the check fails. You can

remedy this with the workaround below.

Edit the registry in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key and add the key for your product version.

    ShadowProtect Desktop - SOFTWARE\StorageCraft\ShadowProtect Desktop\

    ShadowProtect Server - SOFTWARE\StorageCraft\ShadowProtect Server\ ShadowProtect

    Small Business Server - SOFTWARE\StorageCraft\ShadowProtect SBS\ ShadowProtect

Small Business Server (legacy) - SOFTWARE\StorageCraft\ShadowProtect Server SBS Edition

    Fixed it for me.

  7. We can toggle on MAV, MOB and Web Protection for computers but what is missing is an imaging solutions like ShadowProtect

Would be great to be able to toggle on for a computer ShadowProtect for Servers as well as Workstations

Other MSP products do this so would be great if GFI did as well
