If you would like to see all ideas created with a specific tag, you can click on the word or phrase via the tagcloud in the navigation sidebar area under "What we're discussing". You can also view ideas sorted by Campaigns from the right navigation area. To return to this page, click the All Ideas link.

Notification of Remote Storage Node error

When using LocalSpeedVault if the remote storage node is not available the back up wil complete to the LocalSpeedVault only. This is good as at least a backup is completed, however currently the fact the data is not sent off site is not recorded as an error. Backup to the Remote Storage Node is a vital part of the back up. Dual SpeedVault locations

Would like to be able to specifiy more that one SpeedVault location. Onsite SpeedVault is great for quick recovery of indiviual files or servers, however in the event of a disaster and using VDR in another location, restore times can be very long. If we could specifiy a second SpeedVault location at a disaster recovery site connected via site to site VPN, this could significantly reduce disaster recover times.

Exclude workstations from inactive workstation removal

We have a number of customers that have some PCs that are used for a few months each year. The rest of the time the PCs are kept in storage. Each time we bring the PCs out of storage we have to remove the agent and reinstall it, and obviously we'd like to include these PCs when calculating the number of supported workstations! Remove Windows Updates

It would be great to be able to remove a windows update from the MAX console.

Sometimes we find out a patch needs to be removed months or weeks after it was approved and installed. From what I understand currently we have to uninstall it manually from each machine, then run a vulnerability scan, then once it is showing under Pending we can apply a policy to Ignore it.

Disk Latency Perf Check

Would like to see Disk Latency perf. check added. In todays environment with highly virtualized servers, disk busy time and especially queue depth are pretty much useless without knowing disk latency. A typical virtualized environment will want to see a high queue depth at the storage back end as it means you are fully utilizing it, however it is when you also can see disk latency that you have a better understanding ...more »

Option to timeout backup jobs after X minutes/hours

I monitor my backup jobs via failure notifications. However if a job never fails then we need to check it manually to know it has not run recently.

Can we please include an option to force failure after X period of time? Ultimately I'd like to be able to set this as both a default global setting that applies to all and also at an individual backup manager level.

Time Windows for checks

24/7 Checks should have a time window (start and stop times). WHEN a check is applied is as important as WHAT it is checking.

Things change. It may be that your server behaves differently during a single period of the day... or it may be several profiles for different parts of the day. Either way, if each check had a time element, the flexibility to write appropriate checks would be handled.

Temporary File Network Location

Currently MaxBackup can only store temporary files on a drive that is local to the device. It would be useful to be able to specify a network location as a temporary file store with the ability to fall back to a default local location should the network destination be inaccessible. This would mean less local resources are necessary for backups with large files (e.g. Exchange databases). Thanks,

Add Check Info to PSA-created ticket description

It would be nice if MAX RemoteManagement was to include the failed Check Info in the PSA-created ticket. For example, a Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 job failed and the ticket's description was as follows: "Check Failed: Backup Check - Symantec Backup Exec 2010: One or more jobs failed" However, the check's Check Info included the following: "14-May-2015 03:38 AM: TapeBackup Complete with exceptions 14-May-2015 03:38 ...more »

Retain custom services.ini across agent releases

To add a custom 24x7 service check you must add entries to the agent's services.ini file. Subsequent releases of the agent will overwrite this file (confirmed by Technical Support) wiping out any changes made (bug?). A subsequent uninstall/reinstall of the agent will require that the services.ini changes be reapplied in order to add the custom 24x7 service checks. OSX templates

Having used MAX RMM for over three years now it happens more often that OSX devices are added to our dashboard. It is found that: a) when installing the MAX Agent to an OSX device a default set of 24x7 and DSC checks is activated. Automate script delivery to endpoints - for use in service tray

Would be nice if there was a way to push out scripts to endpoints, in the case of system tray you have no way to call scripts from the "Advanced Monitoring Agent\scripts" or to put them there without having to over engineer the solution? Yes you could run a separate script to download the scripts from somewhere but then you need to secure the location of the scripts etc. The process is already there for script check, ...more »

Make Asset Modification Report available

The latest release of the dashboard fixed a 'bug' that allowed dashboard 'read-only' users to run the Asset Management reports. My customers found these reports to be a valuable business tool, and are missing it greatly. Moving read-only users to Client Groups is not an option, as it grants a user access to all of my clients asset information.
